FAQs

"IS IT COVERED BY INSURANCE?"

Yes, when you choose to transport with YDT, your vehicle is covered by insurance. The agreement that is sent to you after accepting the auto transport offer guarantees 100% bumper-to-bumper insurance coverage for your vehicle during its transportation. This means that in case of any damage or issues that occur during the shipping process, your vehicle is protected and covered by insurance. This assurance is provided to ensure peace of mind and eliminate any surprises related to your vehicle’s delivery.

"WHAT INDUSTRIES DO YOU SERVE?"

YDT primarily serves individuals and businesses that require vehicle transport services. This can include a variety of industries and situations. If you’re curious about services for a particular industry, it’s advisable to contact us directly for more information tailored to your needs.

"CAN I PUT PERSONAL ITEMS IN THE VEHICLE?"

Yes, you are allowed up to 100LBS of personal items while being transported. Although YDT recommends not putting anything of high value in the vehicle and whatever you do put in the vehicle make sure it is completely secured in either the trunk or the floor boards.

"CAN I TRACK MY VEHICLE?"

Once your vehicle is picked up you will have direct communication with the driver and be able to get any updates on where the current location is through the driver. If you would like real time tracking via GPS we recommend purchasing an IoT device and leaving it inside the vehicle.

"WILL MY CAR BE ON THE SAME TRUCK THE ENTIRE TIME?"

Yes, the same driver that picks up your vehicle will be the same driver that delivers it.

"DOES THE DRIVER COME TO MY DOOR FOR PICK UP AND DELIVERY?"

That is the first option. Depending on the situation, if it is too difficult for the driver to get to the required location due to low hanging trees or windy dirt roads we would arrange to meet up in a larger well-lit area for the driver to easily load and unload.

"DO I HAVE TO BE PRESENT ON PICK UP AND DROP OFF?"

Not necessarily. It is preferred to have someone there giving the keys to the driver or taking the keys from the driver, it can be a friend or relative if not yourself. If that is not an option and no one can be present we have clients leave the keys in a mailbox, gas cap, on the floor board or somewhere else hidden near the vehicle.

"HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE?"

Our drivers average 450 miles per day with. So on something like a 1,500 mile trip you can expect it to take 4 days.

"DO DRIVERS ACCEPT CREDIT OR DEBIT CARDS ON DELIVERY?"

The standard in this industry is COD (Cash On Delivery). Most carriers will charge a 5% surcharge if paying the whole amount with a card, which is why we recommend cash or ACH transfer (Venmo, Zelle, Cash-app).

"HOW MUCH WILL IT COST?"

There are several variables to consider when trying to work out how much it will cost to ship a vehicle. On average in the US, auto transport companies charge around $2.95 per mile if the journey is less than 200 miles. If the journey is between 200 and 500 miles you can expect to pay around $0.95 per mile. and if the journey is over 1,000 miles then this drops to roughly $0.80.

"WHAT FACTORS AFFECT THE COST?"

Distance will play a big part in how much your car transport will cost, with cross-state and cross-country journeys costing a lot more than an interstate car delivery which is often the cheapest car shipping.

Route – The pick-up and delivery spot can affect the pricing of your transport service. If it is from two major cities you will get a much better rate than say someone going from Charleston, WV to Bismarck, ND.
Shipping Dates – How fast you need your car transportation service to operate can also affect the price. ASAP shipping will typically incur a higher cost. If you are able to be flexible around timings then you may find that your car shipping service charges a less, this is because they are able to fit your vehicle delivery into their schedule.
Vehicle Size – The Specs – height, length, and width of the vehicle will all affect how much it will cost to transport your vehicle. The more space it takes up on the trailer the more it will cost. This is also where any modifications to the vehicle will be discussed as that will change the rate. Things like bike racks, an after-market tow hitch, jacked up or lowered suspensions.
Vehicle Condition – When your vehicle is not in a drivable condition, it will increase the rate. If it can run, drive, and steer it is considered operational and will be driven on to the transporter. If not and a winch or forklift is required to load and unload the vehicle it will increase the rate.
Auto Transport Service Type –  Having someone drive your car to its destination will always be the cheapest option as you are essentially just paying for a driver’s time and petrol. With single car trailers and enclosed transport, the price is likely to be higher as there is extra equipment required. A single enclosed transport trailer will always be the most expensive method of shipping a car as it means not only is your car traveling on its own, but it still needs specialist equipment to load, unload, and protect your car during transport.
